Hong Kong in Ten Days Time!

Hello, this is my first post in a blog that I hope to keep up throughout my time working in Hong Kong.

I'll be flying there on the 9th May, and don't come back until the 21st of September, and I'll be flying with Oasis Hong Kong, a budget airline that flies directly from Gatwick to Hong Kong. Let's hope it doesn't go bust before I come back!

I'll be going to Hong Kong (HK) as my first work placement for my good old Design for Industry degree at Northumbria University. I'm going to be working with my fellow DFI student Tim Higgins for the Early Learning Centre (ELC) in this building:

I'll be working on the 39th floor of this blue building, Langham Place, the tallest building in Mongkok, which is part of Kowloon (the peninsula district of HK). Apparently Langham Place is also a shopping centre and a hotel as well as an office block. It has a website if you are interested:

The University has helped to organize accommodation for us and Dave O'Leary, one of the tutors, has managed to barter a good deal for us, so thanks for that Dave! We'll be staying in the Olympic Terrace Suites, in Kowloon.

Although you don't need any injections for HK it is advised if you are there for more than three months and more so if you plan on traveling around to Thailand or Mainland China during your trip. I have had Typhoid and Hepatitis vaccinations and they were lovely.

Think that's it for now. I imagine the next time I post on this blog won't actually be until I get to HK, ten days and counting!
